Razz'm'Tazz

Salsa Mambo Workshop Theory

Level: Beginner

Style: NY

Content: Basics, style, shines, figures.

General Comment: This is one of the most famous salsa group around. I attended their workshops and I found them fantastic. Unfortunately this video series is not up to their reputation. This video teaches the very basics concepts of salsa dancing in a rather informal and relaxed manner. It explains some of the concepts Razz'm'Tazz use in their teaching and is an introduction to the video series. Movements are demonstrated with teh help of several dancers from the R'm'T company.

Salsa Mambo Vol 1 Basic+Basic turns, Movement Theory

Level: Beginner

Style: NY

Content: Basics, basic turns, movement theory

General Comment: This video introduces to basic moves, basic steps, basic elements of partnering, some basic music and timing concepts and finishes with some basic turns. It is structured very much like Eddie Torres' video, with a lot of details on basic steps, and demonstrations from different dancers, but somehow it lacks of class and inspiration. May be useful for total beginners

General Comment: From this video you will learn how to find timing in salsa, how to do a variety of basic steps and how to combine step with body movement. This is a very good tutorial video for the complete beginners and for those who want to add style to their dance.

Salsa Mambo Vol 2 Advanced Beginner steps

Level: Beginner

Style: NY

Content: Basics, basic turns, movement theory.

General Comment: More turns, some standard NY style figures. Some very easy, some of 'intermediate level'. The structure is very similar to the one in Vol 1. The video finishes with a good demonstration of basic NY elements.

Salsa Mambo Vol 3 Lady Styling

Level: Beginner

Style: NY

Content: Lady styling.

General Comment: I had seen Adie teaching a workshop long ago, and she is really good. Technique, energy, professional approach. She brings all of this out in this video as well. The level is quite basic though. She teaches basic steps, basic turns, basic body movements. She finishes with some more advances female moves. All together a good video for beginner/intermediate salseras.

Salsa Mambo Vol 7 Sezy Moves

Level: Int-Adv

Style: NY

Content: Lady styling.

General Comment: Plenty of energy from Adie as usual, in this video which in basically an advanced level lady styling. Edie shows several moves both in front of the camera and in a workshop settings.Moves are first broken down and then shown to music. At the end all moves are put together in a full routine. The moves are mostly taken froma jazz repertoire. Some are usful to fill up and decorate your partner dancing. Others would find a place only within a coreographed demonstration. All moves are very emphatic and flashy, surely useful if you like to impress the audience.

Salsa Mambo Vol 5 Shines

Level: Beg-Int

Style: NY

Content:Shines.

General Comment: 25 standard NY shines taught by Angel and demonstrated by Angel and Adie. The shines are also combined into a set of routines. The video starts with very simples basic shines and proceeds to intermediate level ones. The teaching is quite good and the shines are shown both from the front and the back. A nice collection, which covers quickly the foudamentsal of NY shines, especially for instructors to prepare their classes..
